Introducing: God’s Created Creatures Wreck Evolution. A Teaching Guide for Biblical Creation.

Today I’m introducing my new teaching book for Christian Biblical Creationists, God’s Created Creatures Wreck Evolution. A Teaching Guide for Biblical Creation.      I became a Christian at age 35, in 1977. After about 4 years of study, I began teaching children and adults Christian Apologetics in several different church settings.  Seventeen years later, in 1994, I retired from the Corporate world and began conducting workshops for children, in homeschools, churches and Christian schools, showing “Creation” as the real explanation for our origin.   For about two years, from 1977 to 1999, I led workshops for Ken Ham’s ministry “Answer In Genesis.”   From all my teaching and writing experience I’ve developed many lessons using living creatures to show how Creation defeats Evolution.  In this book I’ve created a teaching tool for Christian educators and parents that use examples from the natural world to teach the flaws of Evolution to Grammar and Middle school children. http://sixdaycreation.com

I’ll keep the language simple and use a lot of pictures to make teaching easy and fun. Most units are an even number of pages so you can open the book and see all of a lesson at one time, although some are in two parts.  As a long time, teacher of all ages I suggest, particularly with young children, using one lesson at a time.  Make the teaching fun and don’t be afraid to use the Internet to enhance your teaching but always use caution by keeping children supervised. SO, USE CONTROLS AND FILTERS!! May the LORD bless you when you use this book to teach your children.  The book is divided into four Chapters: 1) Science, 2) Day 5 the SEA, 3) Day 5 the AIR, and 4) Day 6 the LAND.  Each chapter shows examples of Evolution’s failure to explain nature’s creatures, their design and behaviors.  Each example contains goal(s) for that particular topic. There are more than 25 activities on 70+ pages with seven chats/tables and six worksheets.  All 135+ pictures are full color. Here’s four examples of some activity pages. Creation’s Young Earth and an “Old Looking” Universe

There are at least three explanations that Creationists have used to explain how this Universe that looks millions or billions of years old can be only 6,000 years young: 1) Young Earth Cosmology, 2) Creation Fully Formed and 3) Decreasing Light Speed.

1) Young Earth Cosmology. The newest one developed by Dr. Russ Humphreys is the most satisfactory. He proposes using Einstein’s General Theory of Relativity and changing the assumptions from the “Big Bang” model to derive a young universe. The foundation of “Big Bang” cosmology is Einstein’s Theory of Relativity. To get the equations of the theory to work for a Big Bang a series of assumptions (parameters) have to be accepted. These are; the Universe contains no boundaries, size is infinite, it has no edge, it has no center of mass, it has a uniform distribution of matter, and there is no net gravity effect. These assumptions are in direct contradiction to the observations we make in the Universe. For example, it is VERY lumpy and does NOT have a uniform distribution of mass. When you set the parameters in Einstein’s theory to conform to Humphries model you will get an expanding Universe that looks old but is young. This Young Earth Cosmology is described in the book “Starlight and Time” by Dr. Russ Humphries. The other two are decreasing the speed of light and Creation with an appearance of age.

2) Creation Fully Formed. A second explanation is that God made the creation fully functioning, and the light from long distances was put in place at the moment of creation. Everything is complete from the very start.

3) Decreasing Light Speed. Finally, the third is that when God created light on day one, the speed of light was almost infinite but has slowed to the current speed today. If this is true then using light speed to measure distance is not feasible.

Incidentally, 90% of the mass needed for the Big Bang model is missing. Astronomers call it cold, dark matter; can’t see it, can’t find it but it MUST be there if the Big Bang is real, incredible faith, but poor science.

4) Is Time Eternal?

God existed in eternity without space/matter/time. The first verse of Genesis indicates the first thing God did was start time. “In the beginning,” time starts first, and then God creates the physical Universe. In eternity, there was nothing but God. Einstein’s Theory of Relativity indicates time had a beginning. Time is NOT ETERNAL; it has a beginning and will have an end.

Are dinosaurs mentioned in the Bible?

MuseumHere are some references from the Bible, most of which, refer to dinosaurs. The word “Dinosaur” was not in use until 1841, so we won’t find it in the Bible because the King James Version was translated in 1611, 230 years before Sir Richard Owen created the word “dinosaur”. The word dragon(s), in the Bible, in many cases, refers to dinosaurs. Be careful, when you read “dragon” because it sometimes refers to Satan. Look at the context of the passage before you consider it as referring to dinosaurs.

References to Dragons (probably Dinosaurs)

Deuteronomy 32:33 their wine is the poison of dragons, and the cruel venom of asps.

Job 30:29 I am a brother to dragons, and a companion to owls.

Psalms 44:19 Though thou hast sore broken us in the place of dragons, and covered us with the shadow of death.

Psalms 74:13 Thou didst divide the sea by thy strength: thou brakest the heads of the dragons in the waters.

Psalms 148:7 Praise the LORD from the earth, ye dragons, and all deeps:

Isaiah 13:22 And the wild beasts of the islands shall cry in their desolate houses, and dragons in their pleasant palaces: and her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged.

Isaiah 34:13 And thorns shall come up in her palaces, nettles and brambles in the fortresses thereof: and it shall be a habitation of dragons, and a court for owls.

Isaiah 35:7 And the parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water: in the habitation of dragons, where each lay, shall be grass with reeds and rushes.

Isaiah 43:20 The beast of the field shall honor me, the dragons and the owls: because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen.

Jeremiah 9:11 And I will make Jerusalem heaps, and a den of dragons; and I will make the cities of Judah desolate, without an inhabitant.

Jeremiah 10:22 Behold, the noise of the bruit comes, and a great commotion out of the north country, to make the cities of Judah desolate, and a den of dragons.

Jeremiah 14:6 And the wild asses did stand in the high places, they snuffed up the wind like dragons; their eyes did fail because there was no grass.

Jeremiah 49:33 And Hazor shall be a dwelling for dragons, and a desolation for ever: there shall no man abide there, nor any son of man dwell in it.

Jeremiah 51:37 And Babylon shall become heaps, a dwelling-place for dragons, an astonishment, and a hissing, without an inhabitant.

Micah 1:8 Therefore I will wail and howl, I will go stripped and naked: I will make a wailing like the dragons, and mourning as the owls.

Malachi 1:3 And I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons of the wilderness.

I’ve excluded all the references in Revelation since they refer to Satan.

Can a Christian believe in Theistic Evolution? NO! Why not?

Theistic Evolution is the same process as Atheistic Evolution, except divine intervention is added at critical points in the process. Although some proponents claim miracles happen frequently, there are four times divine miracles are essential if Evolution is to be successful:

Miracle 1: Appearance of matter from nothing (Starting with the Big Bang)

Miracle 2: Biogenesis (Dead Chemicals become Living Organisms)

Miracle 3: Information arising from chaos (Reverse Entropy?)

Miracle 4: Mutations creating new genetic information (DNA increasing to create new traits)

Some theistic evolutionists call for divine intervention at each stage of macroevolution to make the jump to the next kind of creature. Many Christians have adopted TE to compromise the Bible with evolutionary science saying, “Since God can do anything, he used evolution to create.” Advocating God do each impossible step

If evolution happened millions of years before Adam and Eve appeared in the Garden of Eden, then there was physical death for all that time. According to the Bible The Bible teaches that:

“The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and keep it. And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “You may surely eat of every tree of the garden, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it, you shall surely die.” (Genesis 2:15–17)

The sentence of death was the punishment if Adam and Eve ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Why did God do that? The love between individuals is an act of the will. You love another because you choose to. If Adam was to trust God in all things, he had to love him by not doing the one thing God forbade. Death was not present before Adam ate the forbidden fruit. Because Adam did not obey God, he brought the sentence of death to all humanity.

Lesson: a Christian for three theological, not scientific, reasons. These reasons are showstoppers. You can’t be a biblical Christian and believe in Theistic Evolution because:

1) Death is an active force in moving evolution forward. The Bible is clear here, death is not what God intended, it Lake of Fire at the end of time. It can’t be a positive force!

2) In TE death occurs for millions of years before sin enters in Genesis 3. Old earth models have death present in Genesis 1 and 2. So God’s perfect creation includes death? Not!

3) If Theistic Evolution is true, God would have pronounced death “very good” at the end of day six because it’s present in each day in Genesis 1-2.

Since scientific evidence is open to interpretation, Christians can’t believe Theistic Evolution not because of science but because of Theology!

The value of human life viewed by the Humanist – Evolution and the Christian – Creation.

Of the many divisive issues in the US today, I dealt with two in my book ANSWERS For “The Hope That Is In You” the value of human life and racism. History has shown again and again that when human life is depreciated murder and genocide kill millions. EXAMPLES! In 1857 the US Supreme Court in Dread Scott v Sandford declared slaves non-persons in a (7-2) decision. They ruled, “people of African descent imported into the United States and held as slaves, or their descendants—whether or not they were slaves—were not legal persons and could never be citizens of the United States.” In 1937 in Nazi Germany Jews were declared non-human in the Nuremberg laws. ARTICLE 4. Stated, “(1) A Jew cannot be a citizen of the Reich. He cannot exercise the right to vote; he cannot hold public office.” Finally, in 1973 Roe v Wade ruled that children in the womb were non-persons. The US Supreme Court found most laws against abortion violated a constitutional right to privacy under the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment This overturned all state and federal laws outlawing or restricting abortion. Slaves, Jews and now, the unborn were declared non-persons. As a result many would die in all three cases. How a society values human life determines who lives and who dies. Here I’ll contrast two views, which are VERY different, Humanist (Evolution) and Christian (Creation).

Humanist – Evolution. In Evolution, humans are the highest animals, having no particular special position above other animals. In some cases animals are even regarded as equal to or even better than people. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), an animal rights organization, rejects speciesism (the concept that one species is superior to another). PETA opposes the use of animals in any form: as food, clothing, entertainment, or research. The most famous statement of Ingrid E. Newkirk, cofounder of PETA, is, “When it comes to feelings like hunger, pain, and thirst, a rat is a pig is a dog is a boy.” Men and animals are equal and humans have NO special place on Earth!

Christian – Creation In contrast, in Creation, humans are created in God’s image uniquely designed to love and worship God. He gave them dominion over everything he created. When they rebelled in the “fall”, they lost spiritual communion with God and their spirits died. They were made for purpose, but because of this rebellion, God’s condemnation brings them an eternity in hell. God, himself, provides escape from this punishment by coming to earth himself as Jesus to pay the debt brought by that condemnation. He offers reconciliation to God to those who believe and affirms new life in them. In Creation, then, human life is precious and unique, but separated from God by sin. Christians are returned to spiritual communion with God through the Holy Spirit but they remain sinners saved by grace. Mankind is unique and special!

Lesson: How we value human life in a society determines who lives and who dies. The most dangerous time to live in the US today is the time from conception to birth.

I can’t resist one more comment. Abortion is an insidious form of racism but that’s a subject for another blog.

The most common unbeliever’s question: “Where did Cain get his wife?”

“Where did Cain get his wife?” is the question I am often asked by unbelievers because they believe Christians can’t answer it. In the late 1990s I did a radio call-in program to answer Bible questions on a secular station. The host and I met for about fifteen minutes before the show and he asked me, “What questions do you expect to be asked?” I responded, “One question I know for certain is, ‘Where did Cain get his wife?’” He laughed and said that was a question he didn’t expect to hear. The third caller started with, “I’ve got a question I know you Christians can’t answer. ‘Where did Cain get his wife?’ Ha, ha, ha!” The host flipped his mike off and cracked up laughing. Most people who don’t believe the Bible think this question is a trick or an impossible question stumps Christians. We have a very good answer from Scripture.

Answer: The Bible says, “Then Cain went out from the presence of the Lord and dwelt in the land of Nod on the east of Eden. And Cain knew his wife, and she conceived and bore Enoch.” Who was Cain’s wife? Since the only humans on the Earth are children of Adam and Eve, she must have been either his sister or, if she were born a generation later, his first cousin. The Bible tells us the following about Adam: “After he begot Seth, the days of Adam were eight hundred years; and he had sons and daughters. So all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years…” In the begats that follow, it says, “and he had many sons and daughters.” There were a whole lot of children born in each generation. Adam and Eve could have seen more than ten generations of children before they died. God commanded Adam to be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth.

So, Cain’s wife was a sister or a cousin because all humans come from that first pair, Adam and Eve. There are no other humans on planet Earth except their descendants. Again the Bible tells us, “And Adam called his wife’s name Eve, because she was the mother of ALL living”. But, you ask, how could they marry a close relative with God’s approval? God prohibits it in Deuteronomy! This prohibition against marrying close relatives comes much later when the Law is given to Moses. Marrying a close relative in the earlier generations was not a problem because of the genetic richness of humankind because there were few accumulated genetic errors. Abraham married Sarah, and they shared a parent. They were half siblings. They must have looked somewhat alike because, while he was in Egypt, Abraham was able to pass Sarah off as his sister.

LESSON: Cain married another child of Adam and Eve, and this marriage created no genetic problems and did not break the moral law.

I’ll deal with the genetic richness and depletion questions in a later blog. NOTE: This blog is a shortened version of this answer published in “ANSWERS For: “The Hope That Is In You.” Go to http://yourchristiananswer.com for more info.

What are the BIBLICAL reasons you take the Young Earth position?

Merry Christmas to ALL my readers. On Friday we celebrate Jesus Incarnation, God becoming a man. Another important Christian doctrine is God’s role as Creator/Sustainer. Within the church, the age of the Earth is a continuing source of conflict. Let’s settle it from the Bible! This BLOG is Question 47 (Pages 58-59) “What are Biblical reasons you take the Young Earth Position?” published in my book ANSWERS For “The Hope That Is In You”.

There are the two Biblical reasons I take the “Young Earth” position. I do NOT take it because of science since science is an interpretation of evidence and changes as new evidence is discovered. I use ONLY Biblical reasoning when I’m asked about my “Young Earth” position. Science does, in fact, verify the young Earth, but that’s not the question here. The two Biblical reasons are Death before Sin and Creation’s Perfection.

1) Death before Sin. In Genesis chapter 3 the Bible is clear that death is a direct result of Adam’s sin, yet “old Earth” positions have death in the creation long before Adam sins. They accommodate the long ages REQUIRED for evolution. They argue that the death that came by Adam was only spiritual death, however, then you have to explain how we can have a perfect place in the new Heaven and Earth if animal death is present. Remember the new creation is a restored Eden; “the lion will lie down with the lamb” animals will be herbivores … That could not happen in the world they describe before Adam appeared because animals would have killed and eaten each other. Death would be a POSITIVE and CREATIVE process to gain improvement in all the old Earth scenarios. That’s what evolution and NOT what the Bible says about death. The Bible is clear. Death is a temporary intruder that came because of sin. It is defeated at the cross! A God who uses death is NOT the God of Scripture!!!

2) Creation’s Perfection. At the end of each creation day, God says his work is good. At the end of the sixth day, Scripture states: “Then God saw everything that He hath made, and behold it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.” EVERYTHING was VERY GOOD. This implies a perfect Creation with no sin, death, rebellion, etc. Old Earth scenarios have the fall of Satan, death, sin, and other kinds of imperfection present before the end of day six. That would imply that the clear statement of Scripture either wasn’t “everything that He had made” or it really wasn’t “very good.” In the last chapter of Revelation, Jesus says: “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” No more death! Everything is “very good” again. You can’t have any form of evil before the end of the sixth day because this would be in direct conflict with the clear words of Scripture.

LESSON: A “Young Earth” interpretation of the Bible is the ONLY position that does not violate the clear Biblical teaching of “No death before sin” and “Creation’s perfection”. Any other Old Earth view contradicts Scripture!
