Charlie Liebert’s Credibility to Give Analysis & Advice for “My Christian Children’s Education, What Should I Do?”

Last week I announced the release ofmy latest book “My Christian Children’s Education, What Should I Do?” which isavailable on Amazon as a Kindle download at $3.99 or paperback at $9.99 + shipping.  As a Christian educator, I’ve presented analysis and advice to help Christian parents make the best decisions to educate their children. This week I’ll summarize my experience in education to establish my credibility qualified to help Christian parents.

In 1996, I joined the board of Caldwell Academy, A Classical Christian School founded in Greensboro, NC in 1994. During my time on the board, the school doubled in size, relocated to a new permanent site, and built its first building.  Today Caldwell has three significant buildings and enrollment has grown to over 800 in grades K-5 through 12.  Immediately after I retired in 1994, I began a single proprietorship business called Creation, Dinosaurs and the Flood (CDEF) which hosted educational workshops and seminars for children and adults.  CDEF sold books and videos at these programs.  In 1990 CDEF established a website that answered over 100  Christian Apologetics questions about the Bible and science http://www.sixdaycreation.com. In 2011 the sales business was liquidated, but the site continues today.  In 1997, for two years I worked for Answers in Genesis, Ken Ham’s Biblical Creation ministry leading children’s workshops and adult seminars.  In 1998, I resigned from the Caldwell board toteach Science and Bible for that year. Keeping my interest at Caldwell alive, from 1999 until 2001 I led weekly Grammar science assembly programs. Beginning in 1995 until 2005, I produced an educational one-hour, weekly, public access TV show on Greensboro Community Television (GCTV) using footage shot at my seminars and workshops.  In August 2004 I began teaching business courses at Davidson County Community College (DCCC) in Lexington, North Carolina. I continue teaching today on-line courses.  At DCCC, I won 2 academic prizes for excellence in teaching, including a grant of $3,000.  I began work as an author in 2012.

To summarize in the last 27 years:

1) I’ve helped start and grow a Classical Christian School in Greensboro, NC,

2) Taught science at both the Grammar & Middle (Dialectic) School levels,

3) Led “Origins” seminars and workshops for Answers in Genesis and ministry CDEF.

4) For ten years, I produced an educational weekly TV show.  From local exposure on that show, I became known as the “Creation Guy” and was often recognized as I traveled in the Greensboro area.

5) Led more than 50 programs teaching Christian Apologetics in churches, schools, and civic clubs.

6) Counseled Christian parents and their children in Apologetics to counter the results of the students “loss of faith” when they left home and went to college.

7) Taught Business and general education subjects at Davidson County Community College for the last 14 years

I pray the LORD bless you as you consider your Biblical responsibility to educate your children.

My NEW Book: “My Christian Children’s Education, What Should I Do?” A Christian Educator’s Analysis and Advice

TODAY, I’m announcing my latest book “My Christian Children’s Education, What Should I Do?” available on Amazon as a Kindle download at $3.99 or a paperback at $9.99 + shipping.  As a Christian educator I’ve presented analysis and advice to help Christian parents make the best decisions to educate their children. This difficult decision has eternal consequences so, consider ALL the factors.  This book is an excellent resource to make that decision.

One of the most serious problems Christian parents face in the US today is the potential loss of their children’s faith when they leave home to go to work or attend college.  I’ve had many parents call me: “My son/daughter just came back from a semester or a year away and told me: ‘Mom, Dad I don’t believe in that Jesus stuff anymore.'”  For parents, this is heart-rending.  The first question parents ask me is: “Why?”  Ken Ham and many others have written extensively on this topic, and the answer that comes up most is that the student did not have a firm foundation in WHYthey believed what they believed.  Their education spent little or no time on Christian Apologetics. As early as the 1970s Francis Schaefer saw this problem of the lack of apologetic education for youth.

A Christian parent’s primary responsibility to their children is to educate them in God’s Word. My purpose is to help Christian parents understand the state of education in the US today and help them make the right education choices for their children.  I’ll show the Biblical Mandate to educate your children and give an organized method to implement it.  You know your own family situation so you must choose which option is best for your children’s education.

I have taught at a Community College for more almost 15 years, and I’ve seen many public high school graduates come to start college that:

can only read at a fourth-grade level,

can’t do simple math with things like fractions or percentages,

don’t know how to express themselves in writing,

don’t know how to express themselves in speech,

have a sixth-grade vocabulary,

AND have little to NO critical thinking skills.

When given a 1000-word essay assignment one student told me: “I’ve NEVER written an essay so, how do I start?” If that’s not enough of public school failure, they almost never have the ability to plan work or manage their time.  Many are overwhelmed by the work assignments from the first day of class.  Many spend one or two semesters taking remedial work in writing, reading and math BEFORE they begin curriculum studies.

The Origin of Language Stumps Evolution. Author Tom Wolfe in “The Kingdom of Speech.”

Many of my BLOGs have dealt with the impossibility of Evolution and the credibility of Biblical Creation (In six days, 6,000 years ago) in the area of science, but answering the question of where we came from is more than a just a scientific one. It encompasses all the nature of humankind because we’re made in God’s image. This week I’m deviating from my normal blog to review a book. In The Kingdom of Speech, author Tom Wolfe makes a compelling case against Evolution based on the origin of human language.   In the early pages, Wolfe makes the point that ALL attempts to explain how language could evolve have failed. In a 2016 article, eight of the world’s most prominent Evolutionists conceded total defeat. In his, closing Wolfe states “To say that animals evolved into man is like saying that Carrara marble evolved into Michelangelo’s David.”

Back cover: “Language in all its forms advanced man far beyond the boundaries of natural selection, allowing him to think abstractly and plan ahead (no animal was capable of it); measure things and record measurements for later (no animal was capable of it); comprehend space and time, God, freedom, and immortality; and remove items from Nature to create artifacts, whether axes or algebra. No animal could even begin to do any such thing. Darwin’s doctrine of natural selection couldn’t deal with artifacts, which were by definition unnatural, or with the mother of all artifacts, which was the Word. The inexplicable power of the Word—speech, language—was driving him crazy.” —from The Kingdom of Speech

Background: First there was the word. Or was there? Before Tom Wolfe was a bestselling novelist, he was a groundbreaking journalist. Now the maestro storyteller turns his attention to the mystery behind the creation of his own most important tool: language. In The Kingdom of Speech, Wolfe makes the captivating, paradigm-shifting argument that speech — not evolution—is responsible for humanity’s complex societies and achievements. From Alfred Russell Wallace, the self-taught Englishman who beat Charles Darwin to the theory of natural selection but later renounced it for its inability to explain human speech, to the Neo-Darwinists, who for years argued that there is a language “organ” in the human brain, Wolfe examines how science has repeatedly tried and failed to account for man’s gift of gab. Flash forward to the present day and the controversial work of another outsider, anthropologist Daniel Everett. After thirty years of studying a tribe isolated deep in the jungles of the Amazon, Everett revealed a people whose prehistoric level of speech had led to a society without religion, ceremonies, hierarchies, marriage, or ornaments, and without the ability to plan ahead or to consider a past beyond personal lifetimes, thus defying the current wisdom that language is hardwired in humans. With trenchant wit and uproarious humor, Wolfe cracks open the secretive, solemn, long-faced, laugh-out-loud zigzags of Darwinism, both old and neo-, and he shows the endless importance of the courageous outsider in overturning our most cherished ideas about ourselves. Provocative and fast-paced, Wolfe’s latest tour de force will have everyone talking.

I highly recommend ALL who have an interest in the question of origins read this book. Evolution is FALSIFIED by human language.

Relativistic education without absolutes is fatal to learning.

“Humanist Manifesto II,” promoted by John Dewey, is the foundation for US public education. Children in public schools are taught every subject based on Humanist presuppositions. Here are two examples where language/reading and mathematics remove absolutes and put relativism in its place.:

1) Using phonics to teach language starts with the absolutes—letters and sounds—and progresses to the relative—words and sentence formation. The look/say method begins with the relative and does not build a foundation of letters, so reading skills never fully develop. Look/say readers are frequently poorer readers than those taught by phonics. The absolute has to come before the relative because that’s how God designed it. As a child develops speech, he or she starts with sounds. Listening to a baby test his or her vocals is always interesting. We don’t expect them to begin with words. Word and sentence formation come after the sound development of the letters.

2) In mathematics, particularly Common Core, problem-solving methods are taught with little or no time spent on the mechanics of numbers. The absolutes in math are the numbers and their relationships: adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing. Common Core starts with the relative and never teaches the absolutes of the basics of number structure. If you were born before the middle of the twentieth century, you probably remember memorizing the multiplication tables which, along with addition and subtraction, are the absolutes that build the math system all the way to calculus. Without the foundation of numbers and how they function, the mind won’t ever “get it.” Math becomes a mystery instead of a problem-solving tool. As a parent, look at the Common Core math-teaching materials: number lines, unnecessarily complicated calculations, etc. I could go on with more issues in science, history, and other subjects, but these two examples are enough to illustrate the point that learning and knowledge are always built on a foundation of absolutes.

There are many Christian teachers in public schools that base their teaching on Christian principles, but the “official” line is Humanism. In the 1970s I taught summer sessions on Biblical Creation at the NC Governor’s School, which is a summer program for top rising High School seniors, whose purpose is to “provoke critical thinking in students.” In year 4, I took a poll asking students: “Who believes in some form of Creation?” and about half raised their hands. This opportunity ended abruptly when several humanist teachers in the room saw half the hands go up for Creation. My contact person, a Christian, later told me the ones that ran the program were very upset because I had so many convincing arguments for Creation and against Evolution. It was evident to me that in public schools you could only teach according to humanist presuppositions, so much for the First Amendment in education. Presenting only one side of any axiom, like Evolution destroys critical thinking in students and makes “political correctness” the result. They become advocates for Evolution, without any reason or foundation for their beliefs.
