Charlie’s Short Course in Evangelism, 8/29 in Enola, Pennsylva

Charlie Liebert, Christian Apologist, and Teacher will be leading a workshop in Enola, Pennsylvania on Wednesday evening, 8/29, 6:30 – 8:00 PM at Enola Church of God, 9 Sherwood Drive.  The workshop’spurpose is to equip Christians to Dialogue with non-Christians about the gospel.  All the material taught in this course is in the newly published booklet: “Charlie’s Short Course in Evangelism.”

Part 1 lays the Biblical foundations for dialogue with non-Christians including Jesus’ great commission, and Jesus’approach to challenges, presuppositional apologetics and the biblical principle of the state of humankind, being dead in sin.  The raising of Lazarus illustrates the sequence of salvation.

In Part 2  we determine an unbeliever’s spiritual temperature, that is how receptive they are to hearing the Gospel. I’ll also offer an approach to sharing the Gospel.

Are they cold?They don’t have any real interest in the Gospel, andeven a satisfactory answer to their questions would NOT change their relationship to Christ.

Are they lukewarm?If they are lukewarm, you conclude they are interested in Christianity but don’t appear ready to believe.

Are they hot? You’ve taken their temperature, and they are ready to respond to the Gospel. For example, they may say, “This is the one problemkeeps me from believing in Christ” or “If I had real answers I could believe, I’d consider becoming a Christian.”

Knowing their temperature, you then share your testimony and, if applicable, go to Closure to lead them into a relationship with Jesus.

The third part of the workshop will be learning and rehearsing a series of dialogues to speak with various groups including Atheists, & Humanists, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and Mormons, (LDS)

Part 4.  One of the most common views in our culture is Materialism, andI’ll share some tools to dialogue with one of them. As a worldview, it’s often called metaphysical naturalism, which is the philosophy that nature is all that exists throughout space and time. The natural world, the universe, the cosmos, consists only of natural elements, matter, and energy— nothing else. The supernatural does not exist; just nature is real. Believers of this philosophy are forced to consider atheistic evolution as the onlyway to answer the question “Where did we come from?”

Three tools to expose Materialism’s fallacyare 1) Immaterial Opposites, 2) Historical Narratives and Absolute Scientific Laws.

The booklet prepared to teach this workshop is Charlie’s Short Course in Evangelism.  Which contains four sections and three appendices 1) Charlie Liebert’s Biography 2) Charlie Liebert’s Testimony 3) Using Mortality as an Evangelistic Tool.

The material for this workshop are from two of my books: 1) Always Be Ready to Give an Answer! 2) 12 Lesson Study Guide for Always Be Ready to Give an Answer!

This short course booklet is now available as “Charlie’s Short Course in Evangelism.”

God’s Creation reflects His Trinitarian nature. The three-fold nature of the Universe.

As a Young Earth Creationist, I have many discussions with other Christians about the age of God’s creation.  In this blog, I’m putting the age of the Creation discussion aside to highlight another characteristic of the Universe, its three-fold nature. The Christian doctrine of the Trinity, God in three persons, was defined in the Nicene Creed (325 A.D.). (The following citation is from Wikipedia) “The Ante-Nicene Fathers asserted Christ’s deity and spoke of “Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,” even though their language is not that of the traditional doctrine as formalized in the fourth century. Trinitarians view these as elements of the codified doctrine. Ignatius of Antioch provides early support for the Trinity around 110 A.D., exhorting obedience to “Christ, and to the Father, and to the Spirit.”   Justin Martyr (AD 100–165) also writes, “in the name of God, the Father, and Lord of the universe, and of our Savior Jesus Christ, and of the Holy Spirit.” The first of the early church fathers to be recorded using the word “Trinity” was Theophilus of Antioch writing in the late 2nd century. He defines the Trinity as God, His Word (Logos) and His Wisdom (Sophia) in the context of a discussion of the first three days of creation. The first defense of the doctrine of the Trinity was in the early 3rd century by the church father, Tertullian. He explicitly defined the Trinity as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and defended Trinitarian theology.  St. Justin and Clement of Alexandra used the Trinity in their doxologies and St. Basil likewise, in the evening lighting of lamps.

The Trinitarian nature of God is reflected in both His Word and Creation.  For example, in his Word, 3-in-1 is shown in both Testaments: Isaiah – “Holy, Holy, Holy…”  Matthew – “in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit…”  Creation is attributed to the action of all three members of the Trinity.  In Scripture Father, Son and Holy Spirit are all described as Creator.  The whole creation is constructed in 3-in1 components.  Before you look at the table below, how many can you name?  If you come up with a new one, that I don’t have listed send it to me at  Happy Year to all my readers.

Christianity’s Uniqueness Among Other Religions, and Worldviews PART 1.

This BLOG is adapted from Chapter 4 “The Uniqueness of Christianity” in my bookAlways Be Ready to Give an Answer!” In spite of all of these worldviews and religions there are only three different views of Mankind’s position in this world and his possible rescue from death: 1) God’s not relevant and death is final. 2) Non-Christian religions escape death by human efforts, and 3) Christianity, God rescues man from death. All must answer the same question: “What happens to us when we die?”

God’s not relevant and death is final. Atheism, agnosticism, humanism, and materialism take the position that God may or may not exist but, if he does, he is not relevant to human behavior. They all believe mankind will evolve to a better state without aid from a deity. Evolution from microbes to man is the foundation of these views. Their answer to “What happens when we die?” is simply: “We are extinguished and no longer exist. There is no afterlife.” Atheists, agnostics, and humanists that understand this fully may take their own lives as they age because of the trials of aging and the hopelessness of this view. They ask, “What’s the point of suffering the painful aging process?” This view is bad news only! There is no good news here, only extinction and nothingness! There is no purpose or meaning to life in these views! As Christians we can see the hopelessness of this view clearly because we have the “good news” of the gospel.

Non-Christian religions escape death by human efforts. In all world religions Including cults like Mormons or Jehovah’s Witnesses some form of human effort, with or without divine intervention, is required to achieve reconciliation with God. It is some kinds of good works or keeping ritual practices by human effort that provides redemption to escape death. Most world religions recognize the fundamental flaw in mankind (sin) and find a way to deal with it to escape death. BUT we all know no one escapes the Grim Reaper. They rid their adherents of this curse by some form of religious rules, rituals, practices, etc. Man is able to rescue himself from death. In some religions, it may require the help of a deity, but human effort of some kind is the key. In Hinduism, for example, you go round and round in reincarnation until you achieve Nirvana. In Islam, die a martyr and you get to heaven and get 72 virgins. In Judaism, one lives as close as they can to God’s law and you might get into heaven if you’re good enough. Christianity holds a very different view. You are condemned and cannot do anything to escape the consequence of dying. Next week we’ll explore the uniqueness of Christianity.

Conclusion: Non-Christians hold two views on God and redemption.   Either God is not relevant OR reconciliation with him can be achieved by some human effort. Christianity is VERY different! Man is incapable of doing anything to escape death, God must rescue man.

Blog 2016 043. 10/21/16 The Jehovah’s Witnesses or Mormons ring your doorbell. Christian, here’s your answer for “the hope that is in you.”

As Christians, we must always be ready to bring the Gospel to anyone we meet. When the Jehovah’s Witnesses or Mormon Missionaries ring your doorbell rings are you willing to challenge them with TRUTH? Here are simple responses to each of their pitches.

Jehovah’s Witnesses Questions;

Does the Watchtower Bible &Tract Society make future prophecies?   YES.

Do you prophesy in God’s name (Jehovah)? YES.

Do the prophecies ALWAYS come true? NO

For example, the 1920 booklet “Millions Now Living Will Never Die,” declares…we may expect 1925 to witness the return of these faithful men of Israel from the condition of death, being resurrected… Therefore we may confidently expect that 1925 will mark the return of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and the faithful prophets of old. — Pages 89-90. These events failed to come true.

Starting in the mid-1960’s numerous discussions in the Society’s publications pointed to the year 1975: “This seventh day, God’s rest day, has progressed nearly 6,000 years, and there is still the 1,000-year reign of Christ to go before its end. (Rev. 20:3, 7) This seventh 1,000-year period of human existence could well be likened to a great sabbath day. . . In what year, then, would the first 6,000 years of man’s existence and also the first 6,000 years of God’s rest day come to an end? The year 1975.” — Awake! October 8, 1966, page 19. This did NOT happen!!

Answer: Ask to see their Bible and take it to “look something up.” When you have, they will be compelled to listen until you are done. Turn to Deuteronomy 18:20-22 in the New World Translation. “‘However, the prophet who presumes to speak in my name a word that I have not commanded him to speak or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet must die. And in case you should say in your heart: ‘How shall we know the word that Jehovah has not spoken?’ When the prophet speaks in the name of Jehovah and the word does not occur or come true, that is the word that Jehovah did not speak. With presumptuousness the prophet spoke it. You must not get frightened at him.”

Mormon Question;

Does the Book of Mormon teach things the Bible does not teach?

Yes, it does; Jesus and Satan are brothers, God was once a man… These teachings are in the Book of Mormon but NOT in the Bible?

Answer; Galatians 1:8
”But even if we or an angel (Moroni) from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed (anathema).” The Bible is clear. If it doesn’t teach something, it’s not from God!

Remember that although it is God who saves, he uses weak human vessels to take the precious gospel to the world.  Go to htttp:// for more information about my book about evangelism “Always Be Ready to Give an Answer!”

My second book ANSWERS For “The Hope That Is In You.” contains answers to 106 of those questions. Book three, “Without 3 Miracles Darwin’s DEAD!” is currently in the final editing process and will be published later this year.
