Atheism, Humanism & Materialism are Foolish, Everyone Believes in Things Beyond Their 5 Senses!!

These next four weekly blogs I’m going to take the gloves off to deal with those that deny the supernatural and hold that the material world is all of reality. The material in this blog is from the first chapter in my book ANSWERS For “The Hope That Is In You.”

You’ve heard Your Atheist, Humanist or Materialist relative or friend say:

“I only believe in what I can see. Faith is for fools! The only reality is the material world. There is no supernatural! Everything is relative! There are no absolutes!”

Our world is full of people that deny the supernatural. They make explicit statements about the world and act as if they were questions because they are looking for a response from the hearer. These statements are easy to answer and often provide an opportunity to present the gospel. These kinds of materialist declarations challenge Christians to spar verbally. Don’t shy away from these statements; they give you an opportunity to share the Gospel.

In the United States today there are many people, even in church, who believe these imperatives of Atheism, Agnosticism, Humanism, Materialism, and Marginal Christianity.   I describe all of these worldviews in “Worldviews and Religions” from the book Always Be Ready to Give an Answer!

There are three separate arguments to counter these beliefs: 1) immaterial opposites, 2) historical narratives and 3) absolute scientific laws. I’ll cover all three in the next weeks, showing these unbelievers how many things they believe on faith.

After I’ve presented these arguments I’ll say: “You’ve conceded 1) you believe in things you can’t sense, 2) you accept the testimony of others about events you did not experience, and 3) the universe contains absolutes that are always true. You view of reality has been falsified. What you believe about the world isn’t true! You have a worldview that is inconsistent, illogical, and false. You need to find actual answers to your view of reality. My Christian worldview is real, demonstrable, and absolute and contains good news and bad news. First, the bad news: There is a God, who created all things, sustains all things and brings justice to all things. That sentence upon all humankind includes your death and condemnation. You cannot escape death! ALL men DIE! You are lost and without hope when you stand before the justice of God! Now the good news: God has provided a way to satisfy his justice, not by anything you can do, but by believing that Jesus paid the debt you could not pay by dying in your place. Reconciliation to God happens when you put your trust in Jesus.”

Next week we’ll look in depth at the first of these arguments, Immaterial Opposites.

Some critics of these arguments will say: “Don’t call us fools!” My answer is I am only repeating God’s assessment of your worldview. Psalm 14:1 “The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt; they do abominable deeds; there is none who does good.”

A Former Atheist’s Personal Christian Evangelism Plan.” which develops an evangelism strategy that gets to the Gospel every time you witness. His second book ANSWERS For “The Hope That Is In You.” contains answers to more than 100 questions skeptics use to try to stump Christians. Charlie’s third book, “Without 3 Miracles Darwin’s DEAD!” will be published in June 2017.

AIG’s Ark Encounter opens in Williamstown, Kentucky July 7!

witness-history-02Because of my close relationship with Ken Ham and Answers in Genesis this week’s blog is devoted to Noah’s Ark and the Flood. The full sized Nosh’s Ark in the “ARK ENCOUNTER will open July 7 in Kentucky. In the area? Also, visit the Creation Museum. Both are part of Answers in Genesis.

We’ll start with the Flood’s chronology. The flood began in 2348 BC or 1656 years after creation. This dating is from “The Wall Chart of World History” published by Barnes and Noble (ISBN: 0-88029-239-3). Chronology of the Flood of Noah

Bible Verse          Events of the Flood Timetable                              Day

Genesis 7:14       Rainfall Begins                                                        Day 1

Genesis 7:12       Rain stops                                                                Day 40

Genesis 7:24       The waters prevailed upon the earth a hundred and fifty days.

Genesis 8:3         Water level begins to recede                                Day 150

Genesis 8:5         Mountaintops exposed                                           Day 224

Genesis 8:13      Cover removed from the Ark                                  Day 314

Genesis 8:16      Noah leaves Ark                                                      Day 371

Note the entire time, one year and six days, a year and a week, without the day of rest.

The waters of Noah’s Flood came from two sources, in addition to the water already on the surface of the Earth. First, the windows of heaven were opened. Some creationists believe this is the collapse of the water vapor canopy that God created on day two. Second the fountains of the “great deep” were opened on a single day. This massive release of subterranean water causes the tectonic plates to move and creates the erosion that will make the fossil record. The plate movements caused very deep ocean basins, and the water ran into them after the flood ended. If the Earth were perfectly smooth the water on the Earth in the Oceans, lakes, etc. will cover the planet to a depth of over 9,000 feet (slightly less than 2 miles). I believe the mountain ranges of the world are a direct result of the massive continental movements during the flood; this is more than enough water. After the flood, the water ran into the deep ocean basins.

Most creationists believe that a great ice age followed Noah’s flood because the oceans were warm and the landmasses were getting cold because the rain in the early days after the flood. The waters from the fountains of the great deep were hot because they came from deep inside the Earth. An ice age would take water out of the oceans and put it on the continents making it possible for people and animals to walk across the Indonesian bridge to Australia and the Aleutian bridge to North America and to move south to South America. During the ice age immediately following the flood, the ocean shorelines would have been as much as 200 feet lower than they are today.
